Our Vision

Transforming how generosity flows to meet human need.

Our Mission

To make mental health care financially accessible to all, empowering every person to choose the care that’s right for them.

The pillars that guide us

Individual Choice

Donors make the best decisions about their giving, and individuals make the best decisions about their care.

Speed-to-Need

Care begins immediately—no funding delays, no delayed care, no friction between donor intent and impact.

Human Connection

Connecting people through shared human experience, purpose and generosity. People helping people live better lives.

100%
Our Promise

Every single dollar donated directly funds a person’s care.

Not 95%. Not “most.” 100% of every gift funds evidence-based treatment for people who can’t afford it. InherisAI, our for-profit affiliate, provides the administration and technology at no cost to the Fund. 100% Pure Philanthropy™ is a cornerstone of the Inheris Mental Health Fund and a fundamental commitment in our founding charter.

The Why

A national mental health crisis — with deadly consequences

Demand has never been higher. More people are reaching out for help than ever before. At the same time, providers are leaving insurance networks, public programs are stretched thin, and patients who finally find the courage to reach out are turned away because they can’t afford to see the provider that can help them.

60M
U.S. adults — 1 in 5 — live with a mental illness in a given year.1
60%
of adults with a mental illness receive no treatment at all — roughly 36 million people going without.1
49K
lives lost to suicide each year — a leading cause of death for Americans aged 10–34.2
1 in 3
behavioral-health providers are cash-only — putting care out of reach for those who can’t pay up front.
11 yrs
average delay between the onset of symptoms and a person getting help.1
$193B
in lost earnings every year tied to serious mental illness — before counting ER visits and lost productivity.1
45%
of youth, or nearly 19 million, feel hopeless and anxious.
18
U.S. veterans die from suicide every day.

Insured or not, most Americans simply cannot afford a $400 bill, much less high deductibles, months of copays, or out-of-pocket costs to see a provider who doesn’t accept insurance. Affordability is the number-one barrier to care.

“Early intervention is particularly crucial for children with mental health issues, and the cost of care is often a barrier to obtaining help. The speed with which InherisAI can bridge this gap for underserved populations by providing immediate funding for care while the patient is in the building is vital to helping meet patients where they are at RIGHT NOW.”

The Time Is Now — A Letter From Our Founder

This crisis touches everyone.

I learned this first hand through the struggles of a single mom fighting for her gifted son battling anxiety, depression and worse.

For us and for those families and individuals struggling with mental health challenges, AI is enabling us to address the crushing societal problem of mental health and unleash the wellspring of American philanthropy and goodness at an unprecedented scale.

I know that Inheris will truly transform lives.

— Ron Van Horssen, Founder, Chairman & CEO, InherisAI, Inc.

How it works

Giving becomes intelligent, connected and immediate.

Real people. Real care. Right now.

1

You give

Donors chose the impact they want their gift to make (teens in South Phoenix battling addiction, veterans in rural areas enduring PTSD, new mothers struggling with postpartum depression). Donors may be as specific or as broad as they like. A gift of any size joins a pooled fund dedicated to the impact the donor wants to have.

2

We match & verify

AI matches donor intent to individuals with a verified financial need. Gifts are pooled into Care Awards of $2,500 each, the average cost to access up to six months of treatment for one person who otherwise would delay or defer care.

3

Care begins now

Treatment begins with a vetted provider of each individual’s choosing. Selecting the right provider, not just the one willing to take a particular insurance or offering a sliding scale option, is critical to better treatment outcomes and lasting functional improvement.

Gifts of every size, combined for immediate impact

The pilot combines gifts of all sizes into discrete awards — direct support that gets a real person into care right away. No gift is too small; together they add up to lives changed.

All sizes

Gifts of every amount are pooled together.

400 × $2,500

Combined into 400 Care Awards of $2,500 each.

400 people

400 real people access the care they couldn’t otherwise afford.

Funds are deployed immediately. Your gift doesn’t sit. It goes to work the moment it’s given, getting people into care now.

The Pilot

A focused first step, designed to prove what’s possible.

Our pilot is deliberately rigorous. We’re concentrating $1M into 400 Care Awards delivered through a first cohort of provider partners. Every dollar is tied to measurable outcomes against a clear baseline. We don’t do this alone. Inheris works hand in hand with leading providers who bring the clinical expertise, patient relationships, and accountability that make this work real. These are our launch partners.

Who you help

Real people caught in the gap.

Real people, caught in the gap between needing care and being able to afford it. Government and insurance will never provide the funding needed to address the crisis — which is exactly the gap Inheris closes. Hover over a portrait to read their story.

A new category

What early partners make possible

Inheris isn’t a traditional charity. We’re building a living platform and ecosystem that pairs generosity with existing clinical capacity and routes it, intelligently, to the people who need it most. Early donors aren’t just funding care, they’re helping shape the model itself.

Build the platform

Help us build the ecosystem

Your support validates the model, the provider network, and the infrastructure that will move philanthropic capital to care at scale, far beyond this pilot.

Shape the experience

Train the AI on the donor experience

Founding gifts help us learn and refine how donors connect to impact, so generosity becomes more transparent, more personal, and more powerful over time.
